Scholarships for those going into Math/Sci Teaching

North Central College (NCC info) AND Northwestern (NW info) both have scholarships for those majoring in science teaching!

ASM Materials Camp®

ASM Materials Camp®-Teachers is a free, idea-generating workshop introducing teachers to methods that make math and core science principles more enticing and relevant to their middle and high school students. Materials topics are great motivators in any engineering, technology or science course as students learn concepts that are reflected in their everyday lives.  Teachers leave our camps able to engage students using simple, low-cost experiments that integrate into existing lesson plans.

Location: Libertyville High School

Dates: 5 Saturdays | Nov 8, Nov 15, Nov 22, Dec 6, Dec 13

Time: 8-1:30 (afternoons will have labs set up at different stations to work through)

This year there will be new activities for those that have attended camps already... AND you can pick and choose which Saturday you would like to attend! See this Flyer for more information!  For other dates/locations - look here!

Knowles Fellowship

Are you currently in your 1st or 2nd year teaching high school math or science?

Did you earn a math, biology, chemistry, physics degree within the past 9 years?

Each year new 35 math/science teachers are selected for the Knowles Community - those new members gain financial support, mentoring and coaching, professional development and community.

Their application process is in steps (as to make for an easier application process).  They have their first step officially due by January 6th, BUT, you can find out if you've made it to the next round early if you apply by December 1st!

Have Extra Lab Equipment?

Why not see if someone else could use it?!

Send us an email (ChemWest@ChemWest.org) and we'll send it out to our mailing list!
